Level 2 Award in Door SUPERVISION within the Private Security Industry (QCF)

Goals and Aim of Qualification

Under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001, the Level 2 Award in Door Supervisor (QCF) satisfies the training and licencing criteria of the Security Industry Authority (SIA), therefore governing the industry.

Following a period of assessment by the SIA and industry competencies, the certification is one of a set of licensing associated security qualifications that satisfies their criteria.

New industry players that need a license and have no prior award or qualification confering either full or partial exemption will find the qualification especially appropriate.

Certificate delivery times run from ten to fifteen business days.

ENTRY NEEDS

Learners will have to show competency in the use of the English language (both oral and written); read and interpret provided assignments leading to clear, logical and understandable responses; there are no particular limits on learner enrollment. They will have to be able to base decisions on fundamental knowledge.

In line with the minimum age for a SIA license, learners must be at least eighteen years old to qualify.

Combining rules

To be fully qualified, the student must effectively finish the four required units.

UNITS

  • Working in the sector of private security
  • Currently employed as a door supervisor
  • Managing Conflict in the Private Security Sector
  • Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Sector Delivery

DELIVERY

The qualification calls for 45 hours of dedicated study time, teacher-supervised or guided learning. According to SIA, 45 hours are set out as contact time either during an assessment or in front of a tutor or trainer.

Evaluations

Trident sets assessments externally against the standards specified in the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for every unit.

The Centre for External Marking submits completed externally set multi-choice tests; Trident issues results to the Centre.

Knowledge testing and practical skills assessment comprise the assessment of the Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry unit; an externally set and internally marked short answer written test and an externally set and internally marked practical observation examination.
